| Upon arrival
you would be met and transferred to the hotel. |
Day 02 – CHENNAI / MAMALLAPURAM |
After breakfast, visit the ancient Kapaleeshwarer
Temple built in colourful, flamboyant Dravidian style.
Driving past the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal proceed
to see 17th century Fort St
George+Museum housing a fascinating array of memorabilia
from the British and French East India Companies and the Raj,
visit St Mary’s Church
– India’s oldest surviving British Church. Return
to the hotel for check out. In the afternoon, drive to Mamallapuram
(65kms / 1¼ hrs) and check in at resort. Evening at
leisure to enjoy the beach on Bay of Bengal. |
Day 03 – MAMALLAPURAM / CHENNAI |
After breakfast, visit the World Heritage Site of Mamallapuram
built during 7-8th cent AD: See the Five
Rathas – rock cut shrines carved in the form
of chariots; Arjuna’s
Penance, one of the largest relief sculptures in the
world illustrating stories from the Panchtantra; Ganesh
Ratha, Varaha Cave
Temple and Mandapams
– rock cut pillared porticos to cave shrines - all carved
out of living rock. Return to the resort for check out. In
the afternoon, visit the small but majestic, double sided,
Shore Temple on its
unique location on a promontory jutting into the sea. Proceed
to Chennai and check in at hotel for overnight. |
Day 04 – CHENNAI / NAGARHOLE NATIONAL PARK via Mysore. |
Early morning check out and transfer to the railway station
to connect train to Mysore. Upon arrival at Mysore drive by
AC car to Nagarhole National Park (93kms/2hrs) situated by
River Kabini, and check in at a river lodge. Later enjoy a
BOAT RIDE on the river. |
| Day 05 –
NAGARHOLE |
Early morning, enjoy a JEEP
SAFARI into the park, home to a variety of wildlife
from wild elephants, crocodiles and tigers to numerous types
of birds. After a late breakfast, morning at leisure to enjoy
an ELEPHANT RIDE into
the Park. After lunch time free to relax in lap of nature.

| Day 06 –
NAGARHOLE / MYSORE |
After breakfast, check out and proceed by AC car to Mysore
– famous for its gorgeous silks and sandalwood carvings
– and check in at hotel. Later visit the Mysore
Palace to see its exquisite wood carvings, historical
paintings, stained glass etc. Proceed to see the 16’
high Nandi Bull, celestial
vehicle of Lord Shiva, carved out of a single block of granite.

Day 07 – MYSORE |
After breakfast, enjoy exploring and taking photographs in
Devraja Fruit & Vegetable
Market – one of the most colourful bazaars in
India. Later proceed by AC car to visit the 13th century Somnathpur
Keshav Temple of the Hoysala Dynasty bearing exquisitely
carved stone sculptures and friezes depicting scenes from
India’s religious epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. |
Day 08 – MYSORE / GOA via Bangalore |
After an early breakfast, check out and drive to Bangalore
(135kms / 3hrs) and transfer directly to the airport to connect
flight to Goa. At Goa, transfer and check in at hotel. Evening
at leisure to enjoy the beach. |
| Day 09 –
GOA / TRAIN - DECCAN ODYSSEY |
After breakfast, check out & visit by ac car Old Goa to
see the Basilica of Bom Jesus,
Se Cathedral, & the Church
of St. Francis of Assissi – now an archaeological
museum. Later proceed to board the luxury train DECCAN ODYSSEY.
Dinner & overnight on the train as it proceeds for Kolhapur
– situated on the banks of River Panchaganga, in the
State
of Maharashtra. |
| Day 10 –
ON BOARD DECCAN ODYSSEY - KOLHAPUR & PUNE |
After breakfast, board the bus at Kolhapur, to visit the Maharaja’s
New Palace –
now partly housing a museum, Bhawani
Mandap town hall, an exquisitely carved Mahalaxmi
Temple, and, watch a CULTURAL
PROGRAMME. Lunch on board the train as it proceeds
for Pune. In the evening at Pune, board the bus to visit Raja
Kelkar Museum housing a fascinating collection of artifacts
of the 17th-19th century. |
| Day 11 –
ON BOARD DECCAN ODYSSEY - DAULATABAD & AURANGABAD |
After breakfast on the train, proceed by bus to visit the
majestic 14th century fortress of Daulatabad,
and the World Heritage Site of Buddhist, Jain and Hindu Cave
Temples of Ellora carved between 5-8th cent AD. Here
we also see the rock-cut Kailash
Temple where 20 million tons of living rock was removed
to carve it out of the mountain. After lunch, proceed to visit
Bibi ka Maqbara –
Mausoleum of the queen of Aurangzeb, the 6th Great Mughal.

| Day 12 –
ON BOARD DECCAN ODYSSEY – JALGAON & NASIK. |
After breakfast, board the bus at Jalgaon station and proceed
to visit the World Heritage Site 3rd cent BC to 7th cent AD
Ajanta Caves glowing
with hand painted frescoes and sculptures. Lunch on board
the train as it proceeds for Nasik. At Nasik, board the bus
to see Panchawati Ghat
– located by a bustling riverside market, and the 96
arched Kala Ram Temple
containing icons of deities from the Ramayana. FAREWELL
DINNER and overnight on the train as it continues
to Mumbai. |
Day 13 – MUMBAI |
After breakfast, disembark from the train at Mumbai and visit
Gateway of India, and
Prince of Wales Museum.
Check in at hotel. Late night transfer to the international
Airport to connect flight home. |
